Kloof residents' desperate search for missing pensioner (85)

Kloof residents are appealing for help in the frantic search for an elderly man who went missing from the area three days ago.

Residents of Kloof, west of Durban are appealing for help in their frantic search for an elderly man who's gone missing.


85-year-old Francois Coertzen was last seen walking to a local shop on Wednesday.


Hi neighbour, Jacqui Ellis says search parties will be meeting at Memorial Park tonight, before spreading out.


"His niece is normally at home but on the day she went to work and she came home at around 12pm and realised he was missing. He normally goes and walks to go get lotto and biscuits and then comes back, that just didn't happen."

Coertzen's neighbour, Jacqui Ellis say they have since searched most of the area for him and have checked local hospitals and the local morgue but are yet to find him.


Ellis says search parties will be going out tonight and has appealed for residents to join.




"We are asking that anyone out there, in Kloof, Hillcrest, Westriding, Pinetown that is willing too and that can offer their time to just help. He is a gentleman. 


"He needs our help and we just need eyes and ears to help us locate him. Our search party is meeting at 7pm tonight at Kloof Memorial park in Kloof."


KZN Police have confirmed that a missing persons case has been opened.
