Keeping up with the Trumps: Introducing America's new first family

The Obama's have officially left the building - well, moved out of the White House that is. And just in time for a new first family to take up residence. Donald Trump and co. will be moving into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC for the first time tomorrow - leaving the OTT glamour of Trump Tower in New York, for the 132-roomed mansion that's been the official residence of every US president since 1800. So who exactly are the Trumps?

Goodbye Barack, Michelle, Sasha, Malia (and Sunny and Bo) Obama. There's a new POTUS and FLOTUS - and brood -in town.

Meet the Trumps - America's new first family. We're all familiar with President-elect, Donald Trump - aka. "The Donald".

As one of the richest men in US, Trump has become famed for his outspoken criticisms of immigrants, people of colour; his misogynistic views of women, those groping comments, and of course, that hair!

But the man who will tomorrow be inaugurated as America's 45th president is also a three-time married father of five, and grandfather of eight - and very much the all-American family man, if all that spiel during his campaign trail is to be believed.

But what about the rest of the Trump clan? Let's meet them:

America's new first lady, Melania Trump:

Wife number three is a Slovenian-born former model, and the first foreign-born US first lady in two centuries (England's Louisa Adams (1825-1829) was the last.) Melania modeled in Paris and Milan, before becoming Donald's newest missus in 2006.

The glamorous Mrs Trump took a backseat throughout much of her husband's election campaign, only making select appearances to publicly support him.

Since Trump's winning of the hotly-contested seat for the presidency in November last year, the anti-Trump sentiment seems to have extended to his family as well. Melania herself has been the subject of much debate within the fashion industry - with a list of international designers publicly refusing to dress her once she becomes First Lady.

She's also famous for plagiarizing a section of a speech by Michelle Obama during the Republican national convention in July 2016.

And she's the only first lady the world has seen more of than any others - considering her career has been peppered with nude modelling gigs.

Then there's her fierce commitment to her husband, even in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny. Remember all those sexual harrasment claims, and "locker room" talk about women? Well Melania famously dismissed that as “boy talk” - after Donald boasted about groping women just months into their marriage.

Unusually, she is not moving straight into the White House, staying in New York instead - until the couple’s 10-year-old son, Barron, finishes the school year.

While it's not yet clear just how public a role she will play, Melania has promised to be a “traditional” first lady “like Jackie Kennedy”, and wants to advocate against internet bullying, and to help women in poverty.

Here's hoping her lackluster approval ratings with the American public - compared to the sky-high popularity of the outgoing first lady - improve once her husband assumes office.

Ivanka Trump:

Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump is Donald and first wife Ivana's second child. This daddy's girl is more than just a pretty face - she's been a key player in his business, and his election campaign - and will no doubt have the ear of the President once he assumes office.

She married Jared Kushner - Trump's recently-appointed senior White House advisor - in 2009 and converted to Judaism. The couple have three children.

Ivanka is probably the most well-known of the Trump offspring. She boasts a degree from the Wharton School of Finance, and is a successful businesswoman with her own clothing line and a jewellery line. She's also a former model, and was the Executive Vice President of her father's company for 11 years - alongside her brothers, Donald Jr. and Eric.

While her relationship with her father is no doubt close, it has - at times - appeared quite bizarre. Trump once famously said: "If Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I'd be dating her" - which set an unnerving tone for their father-daughter relationship.

She has now decided to relinquish her job of running her fashion company, as well as her executive position at The Trump Organisation, and will relocate to Washington with her husband and children - to work with her father in the White House.

He's most noted for his appearances of his father's reality TV show, The Apprentice, from 2005 - as a guest judge and advisor.

Donald Jr. was also a permanent fixture alongside his father on the election campaign trail.

During the campaign, he sparked outrage when he took to Twitter to compare Syrian refugees to 'deadly' Skittles candy.

The caption read 'This image says it all. Let's end the politically correct agenda that doesn't put America first #trump2016' - for which he was accused of inciting hate and racism.

Eric has been a prominent figure during his father's campaign - and has been at the forefront of many rallies.

In 2006, he founded his own charity, The Eric Trump Foundation - which aims to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Together with his brother Donald Jr, the pair are ardent hunters - with a preference for endangered animals. They received heavy criticism in 2010 after a photograph of them posing with a leopard they had shot and killed in Zimbabwe, went viral.

Trump defended his big game hunting sons - saying they 'love to hunt'.

Tiffany Trump:

Tiffany Trump is the only child of Donald and Mrs Trump #2, Marla Marples.

23-year-old Tiffany has just graduated from the University of Pennsylvania - with a double-major in sociology and urban studies.

Unlike her older siblings, Tiffany has moved away from any affiliation to the Trump family business - choosing instead to intern at Vogue magazine. She's also modeled during New York Fashion Week.

In 2014, while at university, Tiffany released a music single called "Like a Bird".

No news yet as what her next role - apart from First Daughter- will be.

Barron Trump:

The youngest of the Trump brood, Barron - often referred to as 'Little Donald' - is the son of Melania and Donald.

The 10-year-old has been raised in Trump Tower, and it's rumoured that he even has a whole floor all to himself!

He speaks both English and Slovene. His mother has aimed to keep him out of the spotlight - but he was present at his father's presidential victory speech, where he appeared extremely bored.
