Kaunda: Water quality at Durban beaches improving
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The water quality at some of Durban's northern beaches is improving.
eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda says that's what recent tests show.
Beaches in the city have been closed to bathers for weeks due to high levels of E.coli.
Kaunda says they'll remain out-of-bounds this weekend when 35 000 people are expected for the first full-capacity Durban July.

"Our teams are working day and night to finalise the repairs to the sanitation infrastructure that was damaged during the recent floods. We are constantly monitoring water quality at all our beaches.
"Recent tests indicate that the water quality is improving at some of the beaches in the north.
"Work is continuing to repair pump stations and further tests will be conducted this week to ascertain water quality. We will be making an announcement in this regard.”
