Kaunda admits 'huge problem' of nepotism in eThekwini

eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda has acknowledged that the
city has a huge problem of nepotism which it's struggling to flush out.

The issue was also highlighted in a scathing recent report by the auditor which uncovered R1.5 billion in irregular expenditure in the municipality.
The ANC in the eThekwini region held a media briefing on Tuesday.
Kaunda said they have started to address the issue.

"We've been running training so we can also conscientise councillors through the speaker's office that councillors declare if they got relatives.
"To someone like myself and others that have more than 5000 relatives, sometimes it becomes difficult to know everyone, where are they moving and what they are doing so I can go and declare. But the close relatives, son, sister or brother is what we are aiming to relate."
