Karpowership 'unwavering' in bid to supply SA with alternative power
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Turkish company Karpowership SA says it's still interested in helping the country explore alternative power solutions.

This after the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment rejected the company's application to supply 1 220MW of electricity at three locations in South Africa.
The ship-mounted power plant proposed locations at Richards Bay, Coega Harbour in the Eastern Cape, and Saldanha on the west coast.
Two of Karpowership's other gas-to-power projects were withdrawn over environmental concerns.

It's said in a statement that it will continue to negotiate for the projects to be approved.
Meanwhile, the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry says it would've welcomed the bailout by the Turkish group.
"The benefit is actually the opposite of the crisis we are having because we were thinking that our businesses will have extra energy coming into the country because Eskom's capacity is collapsing. Any efforts like this one was purely a bailout," says president Gillbert Mosena.
