'JusticeForJen' campaign sheds light on domestic abuse
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
The family of slain Durban mother and grandmother, Jenny King has started the hashtag, 'JusticeForJen' in the hopes of raising awareness around domestic abuse.
King's daughter, Lee-Ann found her mother dead at her home in Forest Hills on Saturday morning.
It's understood King died of blunt force trauma and internal bleeding.
Her partner - local musician Charlie Ridgway - has been arrested and charged with her murder.
He was granted bail of R2000 in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court yesterday. He's due back in court in March.
Lee-Ann says the family wants to give domestic violence a voice.
"We are incredibly saddened with how this occurred and the fact that no woman in South Africa is safe. We are pushing hard on this because we believe that domestic violence needs a voice and hopefully it will have an impact on this epidemic that we have," she said.
