JUST IN: President Cyril Ramaphosa to address nation tonight

The Presidency has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation tonight at 8pm.
Ramaphosa is set to touch on South Africa's response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Presidency says the address follows a meeting with the National Coronavirus Command Council.
Political analyst, Somadoda Fikeni says Ramaphosa is likely to speak about restrictions over the holiday period - especially in areas where there's been a surge in infections.

There's been a spike in new Covid-19 infections in South Africa in recent weeks.
The Health Ministry says 4 173 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours.

This has pushed the number of people diagnosed so far, closer to the 800 000 mark.
Sixty-five more people have succumbed to the virus, 12 of them from KZN, bringing the national death toll to 21 709.
The Western Cape's confirmed that it has more than 10 000 active Covid-19 cases there, while Gauteng accounts for the most number of infections at over 235 000.
