Jogger killed in Winston Park alleged hit-and-run

Police
have opened a case of culpable homicide after the body of a man was found on
the side of the road in Winston Park, near Hillcrest this morning.
The
jogger is believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run in Jan Smuts Avenue.

ER24 says the he sustained major head injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
As of this evening, SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the man has not yet been identified by family.
“The man was allegedly knocked by a motorist that failed to stop at the scene of an accident. A case of culpable homicide has been opened for investigation,” said Gwala.

“No one witnessed the incident. We are still investigating to try and establish what transpired.”
