These are the three KZN banks that offer smart ID and passport applications

With elections hot on our heels, more and more South Africans are rushing to get their smart IDs ready. 

If you’re interested in getting your smart ID or passport and avoiding the queues at Home Affairs offices, there are three banks that offer smart IDs and passports in KZN.

These banks allow you to apply for a Smart ID card or a new passport by completing the majority of your application online and paying for it before scheduling an appointment for biometric verification at one of the bank branches.

While numerous banks have displayed an interest in expanding the service to other branches, the timeframe for reaching a permanent agreement between them and the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has been continually pushed back, reports My Broadband.

It’s important to note that the DHA offices that operate within these banks work via appointment only. No walk-ins are available.
