IPID takes on probe into Glenwood armed robbery

Police watchdog, IPID has taken over the investigation into a murder and armed robbery in Durban's Glenwood area last week.

Police say two men entered a premises in Campbell Road in the early hours of Friday morning and robbed the residents of cash.
A 30-year-old man was also fatally shot. SAPS spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says the suspects fled in a getaway vehicle but were later arrested.

Mbhele says one of the suspects is an officer from eThekwini's Inner and Outer West Cluster.
"While the police were chasing after the suspect, they then discovered that one of them was a police officer," she says.
She says a firearm has also been seized.
