Internal probe after north KZN officer shot dead

Police have launched an internal investigation, after an officer was shot dead at a northern KwaZulu-Natal police station - allegedly by an off-duty colleague.
Malusi Sibisi was on relief duty on Friday night at the Ekombe station in Nkandla.
The police's Thulani Zwane says on argument broke out between the 43-year-old and the off-duty officer - before a gun was drawn.

Sibisi was shot three times. Zwane says reports from the scene are that the suspect threw the service pistol on the counter and tried to flee the scene.
"A 30-year-old suspect was immediately arrested by police officers on duty at the time. Firearms suspected to be used during the commission of the crime will be subjected to ballistics tests. The suspect will appear in the Nkandla Magistrate's Court on Monday - facing charges of murder."
