Inquiry: 'Hitmen from Glebelands hired in political attacks'
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
A human rights activist believes Glebelands Hostel hitmen have been hired to carry out three of the most recent attacks on councillors in the Umzimkhulu area in southern KZN.

The Moerane Commission of Inquiry, headed by Advocate Marumo Moerane, was established to probe political violence in the province.
Proceedings resumed in Durban today.
Community activist, Vanessa Burger told the commission earlier that hitmen from the Umlazi hostel are now being used in a host of political and taxi-related killings.

Burger claims residents at the hostel have been threatened into giving gangs money - which is then used to hire the gunmen.
"I just received news now that the hitmen from Glebelands went to Umzimkhulu and shot the last three ANC councillors and apparently they are still at Umzimkhulu," she said.
