Inquest docket opened into death of ANC MP Joemat-Pettersson

Police have opened an inquest docket into the death of ANC MP Tina Joemat-Pettersson.

SAPS spokesperson Athlenda Mathe's said in a short statement on Tuesday that the former cabinet minister’s death is under investigation following the finalisation of the autopsy report.
The Department of Health is still working on the final report on the cause of death.

"An inquest docket has been registered and is under investigation. The autopsy report has been finalised, we are awaiting a final report from Dept of Health on the cause of death."
The former minister passed away earlier this month at the age of 59.
Before Joemat-Pettersson's death, suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane claimed she was one of three ANC MPs trying to extort money to get the investigation into her inquiry scrapped.
