Mkhwebane releases audio of alleged bribe by Joemat-Pettersson
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has released to the public segments of audio recordings, which she says are of a meeting between her husband and Tina Joemat-Pettersson where the late MP allegedly asked for a bribe.
Mkhwebane has claimed several MPs offered to make her Section 194 inquiry into her fitness to hold office go away in exchange for money.
During a media briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Mkhwebane said a bribe of R600 000 was solicited.
She also says Joemat-Pettersson indicated during the meeting that Mkhwebane's inquiry already had a pre-determined outcome against the suspended public protector.

Mkhwebane says the meeting happened in March, adding her husband was still collecting enough evidence unbeknownst to her.
"I said why are you keeping this away from me, he said 'I wanted myself to have evidence and even trap them, especially all of them so that I can have over the evidence' So I said, 'Stop that, the police must do they are supposed to be doing that'.
"But I then had to act immediately. I said to open a case, and I then wrote to the speaker. I wanted to sit down with her and take her through all this information because this is corruption."
