Inquest docket opened after fatal drowning of Hammarsdale boy

The body of a seven-year-old Hammarsdale boy has been recovered from a dam.
According to Metro's Search and Rescue team, Ayanda Mkhize and his friends were swimming in the Mlaba dam at Zibuse Village when he got into difficulty and drowned on Saturday afternoon.
The body was recovered at a depth of five metres by divers on Sunday afternoon.

KZN police spokesperson, Nqoble Gwala says an inquest docket has been opened.
"An inquest docket is being investigated by Hammarsdale SAPS. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated," she said.
Paramedics say at least nine people have died from drowning incidents in KZN waters this festive period.
