Inquest docket opened after 3 traditional healers drown in KZN river

An inquest docket has been opened after three people drowned during a cleansing ritual in Folweni, south of Durban.
According to eThekwini Metro Police, 16 traditional healers were taking part in an initiation ceremony in the Mbokodweni River on Saturday when tragedy struck.

Spokesperson, Parboo Sewpersad says a 24-year-old woman and two elderly men aged 62 and 65 got into trouble in the water.
"They disappeared into the river. A call went out immediately to our search and rescue unit and they responded and the bodies were found at the bottom of the river bed.
"They managed to retrieve those three bodies and released the bodies to the South African Police Services," says Sewpersad.
