Ingula contractor, union reach agreement
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Workers at the Ingula Power Station in Ladysmith in northern KwaZulu-Natal say they are happy that an agreement has been reached with a contractor at the site.
Construction at the power station came to a halt last week due to a dispute over an underground allowance.
Eskom then stepped in and granted both parties a cooling off period.
It is understood talks are set to continue today.
However, the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union’s Owen Dlamini says they want to return to work today.
''The workers are ready to go back to work today because issue that were raised have been resolved.
''We are now waiting to meet with Eskom again today to discuss that cooling off period. The workers will not be paid for that period because they're at home,'' he said.
