Eskom is hopeful an agreement between a contractor at the Ingula Power Station in Ladysmith and the Association of Mineworkers and Constrcution Union will be reached when talks continue on Monday.
Construction at the power station came to a halt yesterday. Workers are demanding an underground allowance from 2012.
Eskom's Mlungisi Shongwe says when talks collapsed on Thursday - a violent strike ensued, with property reportedly being damaged.
He says both parties have been granted time to cool off.
"Talks will convene next week for a decision on how we convene with everything will be taken", he said.
"As Eskom we would like to categorically state that we will not accept any deviation from good faith negotiations and also any threat to life or equipment on site", Shongwe said.
"Therefore Eskom will best apply its self and decide how best to deal to deal with this situation this week", he said.
