Indebted KZN municipalities, Eskom agree on payment plans
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
Indebted KZN municipalities are starting to pay the money they owe Eskom under a payment plan.

The power producer says four of them have committed to settling their debt.
In December, the Abaqulusi Municipality cleared its arrears amounting to over R52 million.

General manager for Eskom in KZN, Agnes Mlambo says the arrangements, made with the help of the Cooperative Governance Department, will help reduce strain on the utility.
"They facilitated the discussions between Eskom and the old municipality and in the process, Cogta got everyone around the table and assisted the municipality in making affordability assessment as far as paying the arrears back"
