Increase in fish poaching following lifting of ban
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
With fishing now permitted under Level 3 lockdown, there's been an increase in poaching on KwaZulu-Natal's North Coast.

Just last week, the North Coast Anti-Poaching (NCAP) unit found illegal gill nets with 76 poached fish in Richards Bay.

NCAP's George Shacks says there is an ongoing activity of deploying illegal gill nets.
"It is on the increase, lots of crayfish, muscles and fish are being poached on a daily basis.
"We are getting calls on a daily from members of the public about gill netting, poaching of muscles and other poaching relating incidents. Most fishermen comply and are our eyes and ears," says Shacks.
