Inanda kidnappers nabbed, teen rescued
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Detectives have arrested two men who allegedly kidnapped a 13-year-old boy in Inanda, north of Durban.
Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mlhongo says the child was making his way to school on Wednesday when he was accosted.
"He was about to be picked up by the vehicle that is picking up school children. When the car was stationary, they grabbed the boy, and put him in the car.
"They also grabbed the driver and put him in the boot and they later released the driver at the Emachobeni area and drove off with the young boy. A case of kidnapping was reported at Inanda police station."
Mlhongo says the boy's mother received a call from the kidnappers demanding R1 million ransom.

The family paid R90 000 and the search continued for the child.
Mhlongo says two of the three suspects were caught in Lindelani near Ntuzuma on Thursday.
The boy was later rescued from one of the homes in an informal settlement there.
The ransom money and the car were recovered.
The suspects are due to line up in the Ntuzuma Magistrate's Court on Monday.
