Police Minister Bheki Cele says the gang that was killed in the shootout with police in the north of Durban were dangerous criminals.

Six suspects were gunned down on Thursday morning at a house in Emachobeni in Inanda.
Three others, including a 31-year-old woman, have been arrested.
Police pounced on them after receiving intelligence on their whereabouts.
''It was between 20 and 25 minute kind of shootout. We have found the guns in the house. It would be a shotgun, ML5 and AK47."
"The guy that was carrying an AK47 was found with an empty magazine, and every cartridge was down on the floor, which tells you he a very serious person and very serious criminal."
The suspects have been linked to a spate of crimes, including murders, robberies, and carjacking in parts of the province.

"This group that was shot also committed a crime in Pongolo. One of the firearms that has been found, they stole it from one business in Pongolo, where they robbed this firearm and robbed R60 000,” Cele said.
Speaking at Inanda Police Station, Cele described the life the gang appeared to be living.
"They have been living a very soft life, a lot of very upmarket kind of whiskey, kind of Cognac, which means it’s a group of people that have been taking their criminality as a career and benefiting from it."
