Impendle grandmother dies following assault allegedly by teen relative

Social Development MEC, Nonhlanhla Khoza's called on police to solve the murder of an elderly Impendle woman.
The woman was badly assaulted, allegedly by her 18-year-old granddaughter at their Inzinga home.
The 68-year-old later died at a clinic this past weekend.

The department's Mhlabunzima Memela says social workers have been sent to provide psycho-social support to the family and to ensure the matter's reported to the police.
"When I spoke to the daughter of an old lady, she indicated that they have not opened a case against the granddaughter.
"The family also indicated that after the incident their granddaughter left home and they only saw her today in the neighbourhood."
