iLembe ropes in plumbers, experts to fix water leaks
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
A campaign to plug water leaks in iLembe has got off the ground.
District Mayor Thobani Shandu says water loss through damaged pipelines has meant there's been a low-pressure supply to communities—if any at all.
He says they have roped in more plumbers and other experts to help.

"In the last financial year, the auditor-general's report said roughly R105 million of water went to waste. That is a lot of money.
"Of the 100% of water that we produce, only 65% reaches consumers. There is a severe impact, and there are people who had been receiving water in the past and are now not receiving it."
Shandu also encouraged residents and businesses, such as car washes, to fix leaks and use water wisely.
