eThekwini Municipality says it is making progress in tackling problem buildings in the city.
It says that since 2019, the city has achieved milestones in its efforts related to challenges, including the refurbishment of 22 buildings.
Deputy city manager responsible for Economic Development and Planning Lihle Phewa spoke at the property conference held at the Durban ICC on Thursday.

He said the city has also demolished nine unsightly buildings and intervened in five buildings to resolve potentially dangerous situations.
"About 13 hijacked buildings have returned to their rightful owners through the city's efforts, and administrators have also been appointed for about six buildings to make sure that there is accountability for those properties."
