IFP's Phumzile Buthelezi slams claims of favouritism
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The new leader of the IFP Women's Brigade has hit back at claims of nepotism.
Phumzile Buthelezi, the daughter of IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi, was elected at a conference in Ulundi at the weekend, where the new National Executive Committee was also appointed.
She's told Newswatch she's been elected due to her hard work.
There have since been rumblings among party supporters about favouritism over her election.

Buthelezi, who replaces Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa, has dismissed these claims saying her work speaks for itself.
"If you are a member of the party - it's written in our Constitution that you have a right to be nominated. It has nothing to do with being related to the president," Madlopha-Mthethwa said.
