IFP wants Mthokozisi Sithole assassination mastermind behind bars

The IFP in KwaZulu-Natal has urged investigators to build a solid case against those responsible for the murder of its Estcourt leader, Mthokozisi Sithole.

Police say the man seen in a viral video waving a gun at police is mentally unstable and the “firearm” is fake.

The interim secretary was shot dead in Weenen last month.

Police in the area have made one arrest, with 24-year-old Sithembiso Xulu due back in court on Friday.

The party's premier candidate, Thami Ntuli, says they believe a criminal mastermind is behind Sithole's murder.

"There is something that we've been saying is for all the assassination or the killings, arrest will be as such fast. It will, in fact, cause people to have fear to be involved in the kind of killings; however, we are calling for more investigations so that the mastermind behind the killing could be apprehended to the police."
