The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KZN says it remains committed to exploring sustainable measures to improve security in areas where traditional leaders reside.

The department has received news of the killing of another traditional leader in Alfred Duma Local Municipality.
It's understood Induna Duduzile Mchunu was assassinated in her home on Thursday.
Cogta spokesperson Siboniso Mngadi says it's even more distressing that she was killed during the 16 Days of Activism campaign.

"This heartbreaking incident occurred just two weeks after we've mourned the loss of another traditional leader, Induna Henry Shandu from Emandeni.
"It is especially distressing that such a tragedy has fallen on a female leader at a time when we are actively calling for peace and protection of women in general.
"We plead with community members, who may have information that could lead to the arrest of these perpetrators, to work closely with the law enforcement."
