IFP is KZN's official opposition: IEC

The Independent Electoral Commission has released the final figures from the General Elections, as vote counting officially wrapped up earlier today.
The KwaZulu-Natal Legislature has also been tallied.
Out of 5.5-million voters registered in KZN, 3,7 million people came out to vote (67%).
Officials say this is below the 70% expected - as with the previous national election.
The ruling party has earned 54,22% of provincial votes, the IFP - 16,34% followed by the DA at 13,9%.

This means the Inkatha Freedom Party is the province's official opposition - earning 14 seats in provincial government.
The IEC says the municipalities that documented the highest voter turnout include - uMngeni, uMsunduzi, KwaDukuza, uMshwathi, eThekwini, uBuhlebezwe (located in the Harry Gwala District), uMhlathuze, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma ( that's the Bulwer and Creighton area), Ray Nkonyeni and Mkhambathini (the Camperdown region).
While low voter turnout was recorded in oKhahlamba Municipality, Nquthu, Abaqulusi, iNkosi Langalibalele (the now merged Mbabazane and uMtshezi local municipalities), KwaNongoma, Danhauser, uLundi, uPhongolo, eDumbe and KwaMaphumulo.
