Nationally, the ANC has held on to the 57% support it has received so far. The DA is at 20% while the EFF is at 10%.

The provincial election has been decided in some of the country's provinces.

The electoral commission is satisfied that the handful of results still to be processed won't affect the outcome in any way.

The Democratic Alliance has won the Western Cape outright with 55,6% of the vote.

They will form the provincial government and Alan Winde will be Premier.

The party lost almost 4% of its support.

So too, did the ANC. It's dropped to 28,5% - its worst-ever performance in the province but enough to hold second place.

The EFF keeps its minority slot but double its share of the vote to 4%.

Patricia de Lille says the GOOD party is satisfied with a 3% showing - enough to guarantee it a seat in the provincial legislature.

Although the final calculation isn't ready yet - the ACDP should also keep its solitary seat in that chamber.

In common with the national trend, this election in the Cape has seen the two big parties lose ground to smaller contenders.
