IFP councillor killed in drive-by hit

A murder investigation is underway following the killing of an Inkatha Freedom Party councillor in Mtubatuba.

Innocent Mkhwanazi was gunned down near Nordale on Monday.
KZN police spokesperson Jay Naicker says Mkhwanazi drove past his assailants, who were parked on the side of the road.

They opened fire on him.
Naicker says two of the councillor's bodyguards were wounded in the shooting.
"They also found a third person on the scene who was travelling in another vehicle who was also caught up in the gunfire, and she sustained gunshot wounds to the leg."
