IFP abandons court bid against Zandile Gumede, says 'there is no point'

The Inkatha Freedom Party in the province has abandoned its court bid against former eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede from the KZN legislature.
The matter was expected to be heard in the Pietermaritzburg High Court after Gumede was sworn in in August despite her corruption case still pending in court.
The party filed papers last year November, arguing that Gumede is getting paid for doing nothing.

IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa says they have dropped their court action because the former mayor had resumed her duties.
"As an official opposition, we can not allow Zandile Gumede to earn salary out of the taxpayer's money, taking it home - obviously stealing. Since Zandile is back to the legislature and took on all her duties, then there is no point in going on with the case.
