IEC vows to remove members with ‘no integrity’
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Independent Electoral Commission has admitted it has had to deal with some of its own.
This after some IEC members' names appeared on candidate lists for the upcoming elections:
"We've taken the database of candidates and run it against the database of the staff of the electoral commission, and where we found that there was an intersection, we said this is not it; we don't want it to exist."
The commission's chairperson, Mosotho Moepya, made the remarks at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto on Sunday.

The IEC and the SA Council of Churches held a national day of prayer ahead of the May 29 polls.
Moepya said all officials overseeing the elections have been hired:
"We have given their names and their CVs to their local communities and local political parties and said to them: tell us these people come from our communities. If these are people who will serve with integrity of heart and skilful hands, let us know. If they are not going to do so, just let us know, and we will remove them."
