IEC on track ahead of Elections Day
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The Independent Electoral Commission says it's on track to deliver an incident-free election on May 8th.
The leaders of the parties contesting the election are in Midrand, signing a pledge to adhere to the electoral code of conduct.
Party leaders have been reminded of their role in maintaining peace during the upcoming elections.
Judge Pillay read extracts of the pledge which party leaders committed to before signing.
"To publicly promote the eradication of no-go areas for campaigns by political parties, to desist from using speech or from participating in actions which will have the effect of provoking either political parties, supporters or members of the general public to commit acts of intolerance or take other inflammatory actions," she said.
