IEC heads to ConCourt over Zuma ballot ruling
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The Electoral Commission has approached the Constitutional Court in an effort to appeal an order that paved the way for Jacob Zuma to contest the upcoming elections.
The Electoral Court, on Tuesday, ruled in favour of the MK party to keep Zuma on its parliamentary candidate list.
It overturned the IEC's decision to bar the former president from the ballot due to his 2021 prison sentence for contempt of court.

The commission says it's seeking clarity from the highest court in the land on the interpretation of Section 47 of the constitution.
It says it's an important matter of public interest that impacts future polls.
The IEC says the appeal shouldn't be misinterpreted, as the commission isn't involving itself in the political field of play.
