IEC campaign drive to target young voters
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The country's electoral commission says less than 20% of young people who're eligible to vote have registered for next year's elections.
The IEC's Sy Mamabolo says aside from encouraging all South Africans to register on the 26th and 27th of January - their voter registration drive will place an emphasis on the youth's input.
The IEC briefed the media yesterday on preparations for the ballot, scheduled to take place in May.

"The Electoral Commission will be supporting the registration drive with the roll-out of a national communication and education campaign to encourage participation. A key task of campaign will be urging young first-time voters to register," Mamabolo said.
