IEB schools scoop 98.92% matric pass rate

The Independent Examinations Board says the Class of 2018 has done an excellent job. The country's private schools have achieved a matric pass rate of 98.92%.
The figure's up from 98.76% the year before.
More than 12 300 candidates sat for the examinations late last year.
“We’re very pleased that the schools have done so well. They really have pulled out the stops this year and done exceptionally well,” the IEB's Anne Oberholzer says.
Oberholzer says 9 out of 10 students can go on to study at university.
“A total of 90.65% of them passed and got university acceptances and that is slightly up from last year. It’s probably attributable to the fact that the universities have done away with the designated list,” she explains.
Oberholzer says they're pleased with the performance in key subjects,
“English home language is almost a 100% pass rate. Maths, the pass rate is about 95.7% and science is about 96.2%”.
