Hunt for suspect who raped girl (8) near Port Shepstone school
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KwaZulu-Natal police say officers are still searching for a man who allegedly lured an eight-year-old girl out of a school before raping her in Port Shepstone on the South Coast.

Police say the Grade 3 learner was lured by an unknown man from the school premises last week Thursday.
Detectives say the man allegedly convinced the little girl that her grandmother had cancelled her transport and requested him to fetch her instead.

They say it's alleged he then raped her a few meters away and fled when another female came looking for the child.
KZN Education spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi says they have been made aware of the matter.
"Police are still working on the matter. We are giving them that space. MEC [Kwazi Mshengu] has also maintained that our schools are rapidly becoming soft targets for criminal activities."
