Zuma is facing 16 charges, including fraud and corruption, in connection with the controversial arms deal. The charges were reinstated against him earlier this year.

A motorcade through the city was also held in support of the 'hands off Zuma campaign' yesterday evening.

Hundreds of people spent the night in Albert Park, voicing their support for the former president, despite the winter chill.

However, the smaller than expected turnout could be attributed to the drop in temperature.

Avid supporters braved the cold, some even bringing their children with them.

Some people cashed in on the vigil, setting up stalls selling food, drinks and ANC branded merchandise.

Meanwhile, SAPS and Durban Metro Police vehicles have been stationed outside the courthouse to monitor the area.

Access to the Durban High Court is expected to be tight again today.

Only the accused, court officials, accredited members of the media and special interest groups will be allowed in.
