Tight security in Durban CBD ahead of Zuma court appearance
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Traffic and security plans are going to be put in place in the Durban CBD later today.
They will remain in place until after Jacob Zuma's appearance at the Durban High Court tomorrow.
A motorcade in support of Zuma is expected to make it's way through the city centre between 5pm and 7pm today, followed by a night vigil at Albert Park until 8am tomorrow.
Former president, Jacob Zuma is facing several fraud and corruption charges - among other things - in relation to the controversial arms deal.
Hundreds of supporters gathered outside the courthouse in April when Zuma made his first appearance. Thousands are now due to take part in a planned march through the city - from King Dinizulu Park to the Durban High Court tomorrow.
Durban Metro Police say the march will get underway at 7.30am. Zuma's supporters will make their way from the park and down Dr Pixley Ka Seme Street. They will then turn into Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street before joining Margaret Mncadi Avenue. Motorists can expect delays around the Durban High Court precinct in the morning.
eThekwini says Margaret Mncadi Avenue will be closed between Joseph Nduli and Joe Slovo streets from 8am until 1pm.
