Humanitarian foundation to offer water relief to drought-stricken Mtubatuba residents
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
Residents of Mtubatuba will get some much-needed water relief today, thanks to the youth division of the Bayede Foundation - in conjunction with humanitarian group, Gift of the Givers.
This comes after Newswatch ran a story yesterday, with the Mtubatuba Mayor calling for assistance - especially in the KwaMsane Township.
The municipality raised its concerns about the drastic measures some resident have resorted to amid the ongoing drought - namely drawing untreated water directly from the Mfolozi river - which has been declared 'dry'.
The Gift of the Givers Rhana Naicker has called on community members to come out in their numbers to collect water.
"Gift of the Givers trucks will be driving in to the KwaMsane grounds. We will be parked there from 10am. People are welcome to come over, pick up their water. We're also bringing huge tanks full of water, and are encouraging the local community to even come out with their drums," she said.
