Holomisa commends Zuma, IFP calls for restraint as former president wakes up in prison

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) says former president Jacob Zuma is likely to be admitted to the hospital section of the correctional facility, based on his medical condition.

UDM leader Bantu Holomisa commended the ex-president for complying with the Constitutional Court order. 


"Say what you will of former president Zuma, but he quite boldly has said that he was not afraid to go to jail and he has now voluntarily handed himself over to the police."

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Velenkosini Hlabisa has appealed for calm and restraint from Zuma's supporters.


"The IFP further reiterates its call for calm and restraint in respect of groups of persons supporting former president Zuma that may wish to hold gatherings, as well as compliance with all Covid-19 regulations.


"The IFP reiterates its call to former President Zuma to respect the ruling of the Constitutional Court, the rule of law, and to allow justice to now take its course."

Meanwhile, the JGZuma Foundation has referred to Zuma's incarceration as a tragedy as its patron has been jailed without trial.
