The law cannot be mocked, ignored: DA on Zuma imprisonment
Updated | By Newswatch
The Democratic Alliance (DA) leader John Steenhuisen says the incarceration of former president Jacob Zuma shows that the rule of law applies to everyone.
The Jacob Zuma Foundation, though, has referred to the former president's imprisonment as a tragedy, adding that its patron has been jailed without trial.
It also says its spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi, won't be participating in any media engagements for now, as he needs time to reflect on what's happened.

Steenhuisen said the party welcomes the imprisonment.
"We are very glad that the rule of law has prevailed and that we were also able to show that there was restraint as well and we didn't have to have a bloody confrontation, and I think that is a good thing.
"What this shows is that the law cannot be mocked or ignored, and it will be applied in a matter of whether you are a former president or whether you are an ordinary citizen."
