Hlomuka: Deaths of CIT suspects should serve as warning
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The Department of Community Safety in KwaZulu-Natal says it hopes the deaths of six wanted suspects will be a lesson to those who plan to commit crimes in the province.

Over the weekend, two suspects were gunned down in a shoot-out with police in Verulam, north of Durban.
They were wanted in connection with a series of cash-in-transit robberies.
In a separate incident, four men believed to be behind the murders of two women in Inanda were killed in another shootout with officers.

"MEC Sipho Hlomuka commends law enforcement following the successful execution of two separate intelligence-driven operations where six wanted suspects were fatally wounded during separate shoot-out incidents at Inanda and Verulam," says the department's spokesperson Thando Biyela.
"The MEC also applauds members of the community for providing police with credible intelligence information. The MEC also assured the people of this province that Operation Shanela is yielding positive results in the prevention and combating of criminality."
