The uThukela and uMzinyathi District Municipalities - which are under administration - are to hear who their new administrators will be.
KwaZulu-Natal Cooperative Governance MEC Sipho Hlomuka will make his way to the districts on Friday.
He said on Thursday that forensic investigators had started probing alleged maladministration at Newcastle's eMadlangeni Municipality.

Hlomuka says they want to bring stability to these struggling municipalities.
"The municipality failed to pass the 2020/2021 budget, including the IDP on time.
"We don't choose whether the municipality is run by the ANC or the IFP, any municipality that is failing to render services to the people that they have been elected, we have a responsibility to support them."
