Hijacker handed life sentence for killing Kranskop man

A man has begun serving a life sentence after he hijacked and killed a Kranskop man.
Thirty-one-year-old Jabulani Mpungose was sentenced in the Pietermaritzburg High Court this week.
Police say he confessed to hijacking and killing 53-year-old Dumsani Nxumalo in July 2021.

It was after Nxumalo's body was discovered by farm workers in Kranskop with gunshot wounds.
Officers say Mpungose was traced to Tongaat SAPS where he was detained for reckless and negligent driving as well as for driving under the influence of alcohol.
He subsequently confessed.
