Higher Education heads to Durban to try resolve DUT strike
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Department
of Higher Education and Training officials will travel to Durban next week to
try and find a solution to the ongoing strikes at DUT.
Durban University of Technology management and staff have not been able to reach an agreement on salary increases for several weeks.
Staff affiliated to three unions downed tools in early January.
The department's Matahepo Seedat says they will meet with all parties involved on Tuesday.
“Both the university council and unions have committed to go back to the table and talk,” she said.
Striking workers are demanding a revised 8.5-percent increase, while DUT is offering a 6.5-percent.
