A campaign to create awareness around bogus colleges will be held in Durban today.
The Department of Higher Education and Training will march through the city centre to encourage private colleges to comply with the relevant legislation.
Officials have begun conducting impromptu inspections after a number of institutions were found to be operating illegally.
"There are one or two colleges that aren't properly accredited and registered. The issues become very big because they are either ignorant of the law or they pretend to be ignorant. The claim they are making is that these are international qualifications. We are saying this is wrong," project co-ordinator, Shaheeda Essack says.
