High Court dismisses Ria Ledwaba interdict application
The High Court in Pretoria has dismissed an urgent application by Ria Ledwaba to interdict the South African Football Association’s elective congress.
The election is set to be held on 25 June.
Ledwaba, who is the current vice president, wanted to stop the elective congress from going ahead, citing the association's constitutional and procedural irregularities.
The renowned football administrator will face incumbent Danny Jordaan who has been at the helm since 2013.
According to SAFA guidelines candidates vying for the presidency must be chosen by the regions.

Civil society organisation Not In My Name, who has been vocal in its support for Ledwaba, says it will continue to lobby for her to succeed Jordaan.
Spokesperson Themba Masango says they believe Ledwaba will become the first woman SAFA president.
"We respect the outcome of the court and we will continue to make sure that we deliver the first woman of SAFA in South Africa.
"The delegates who are going to vote will put the best interest at heart and do the right thing. We want to make sure that the laws of SAFA are being followed so that in the future it does not matter what you are contesting against."
Ledwaba could not be reached for comment, but is expected to hold a media briefing following the court ruling.
