Hefty sentence for KZN man who raped daughter
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KZN police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi says the punishment handed down in a case against a child rapist in Estcourt cements their belief that those who abuse women and children have no place in society.
The 49-year-old man was slapped with three life sentences this week for the rape of his daughter.
The assaults first began 17 years ago.
SAPS provincial spokesperson Robert Netshuinda says the sentence comes days before the 16 Days of Activism campaign wraps up.

"The victim was only five years old at the time and was staying with her father in Escourt after her parents separated.
"In 2007, both the victim and her father moved to Imbali, Pietermaritzburg, but her father continued raping her, threatening to kill her if she told anyone.
"The victim fell pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy at the age of fifteen years as a result of the rape ordeal. The matter was reported the matter to the police in 2020 and the father was arrested."
